Anger is a difficult emotion for many of us. We may feel like it’s getting out of control or be afraid to show it in any way.
Anger is associated with aggression, screaming and hurting others. Those who get mad are described as unpredictable and unfriendly.
The truth is that we need a healthy expression of anger! When we let off some steam, we release tension, reduce stress and gain precious life energy.
Bioenergetic analysis and exercises according to Alexander Lowen give us the tools to understand and work with our anger.
You will take a look at your attitude towards anger today. We will discuss the different shades of anger. Often this emotion covers something else, like sadness or shame, or the other way around. You'll understand why a healthy expression of anger is OK and beneficial for you and others.
In a small group and safe space we'll learn the basic somatic exercises for working with anger. To be able to access this strong emotion safely, you need to be grounded and conscious of your body. Through expressive practices you'll get in touch with your own anger.
One of the main goals of bioenergetic exercises is to regulate emotions and improve wellbeing. Thanks to regular practice of expressing anger and irritation, you'll be able to manage stress, improve sleep quality, confidence and even your libido! This embodied work can help you become more assertive at work and in your relationships.
Expressing anger has never been easy for me. I was raised in 1980s Poland. At that time little girls were not supposed to get angry. We were brought up to be nice. Since I’ve discovered Bioenergetic Analysis and exercises I have been learning to understand and express my own anger, instead of covering it with tears and sadness (which in our culture are more acceptable for a woman).
I discovered Bioenergetic Analysis when interviewing a body-oriented therapist for my radio show about sexuality (I’m a trained sexologist). Once I learned more about the approach, I got hooked. I got so hooked that at the age of 40 I decided to go back to school and get trained for 4.5 years to become a body-oriented psychotherapist. I have now completed the pre-clinical phase of my training (two years). To ensure the quality of my work I have regular supervision with an experienced therapist.
On top of that I bring additional, extensive (1.5 years) education and training in group workshop facilitation and life coaching (1 year postgraduate university course).
In my private life I’m an expat in Switzerland. I came to Zurich in 2018 from Warsaw, Poland. My family pack consists of myself, my husband, 8-year-old son and two senior cats. I love the Baltic seaside and the color red.
